The mission of the Wasco Diamonds program is to model character, reward commitment, serve community and build confidence.
The Wasco Diamonds are highly competitive girl’s fastpitch softball teams formed in the Fall of the year to compete at the tournament level with other programs from the Midwest region. These teams are members of the ASA, AFA and USSSA softball associations and compete in a combination of local and national qualifier events. Teams are fielded in the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and 23U divisions. The program began in 1995 traveling part time with only two divisions and moved to full time travel in 1996. There have been many significant achievements at this level of play; most notably the teams have won a combined 40 tournaments since 1996. Since 2000 we have qualified our 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams for national tournaments. Many of the girls have gone on to have successful varsity careers at the high school level and some are currently competing at the college level.
The philosophy of the travel program is to emphasize proper fundamentals and teaching of advanced softball skills. We accomplish this through year round practices and attendance at professional clinics. Players as well as coaches are expected to attend outside clinics to further their knowledge and skill levels. We do not advocate a win at all costs mentality, but foster a competitive atmosphere where players can strive to compete at their best.
Our program has continued to maintain a level of excellence that is rarely reached in youth sports programs and is proud to provide opportunities to the young female student athletes in the communities surrounding Western St. Charles, Illinois.
